The CAMHS Partnership

The Child Adolescent and Mental Health Service Partnership (CAMHS) is part of Newcastle’s Children’s Trust Arrangements and reports to the Children's and Young People Strategic Partmership (CYPSP).  It aims to improve outcomes for children and young people in Newcastle focusing on their emotional health and wellbeing.  The Partnership is currently updating the comprehensive CAMHS strategy including governance arrangemnets, which ensure all stakeholders (including children, young people, parents and carers) are involved in the process of improving the emotional health and wellbeing of children and young people.

Who’s who in the partnership?

In 2007 the Partnership is completing a Programme Budgeting Marginal Analysis exercise.  This involves explicitly mapping financial and activity data across the whole system and completing an appraisal of the added benefit and added cost of a proposed investment or disinvestment.  It is an economics based framework to help manage scarce resources and maximise the impact of resources on the needs of children, young people, families and carers.  It is similar to a Best Value review.  It is funded through Knowledge Transfer Partnership (PCT Commissioners, DTI, Newcastle University) and has a dedicated Associate - Alistair Robson

High Care Needs Referral Form

The High Care Needs system identifies children in Newcastle who have complex difficulties and where the provision of an appropriate multi-agency package of social care, health care and education is challenging the local services.

Referral does not result in the provision of a service, but highlights the current and future needs of specific children, as identified by the professionals in the multi-agency team involved in their care, to the joint commissioners of children’s’ health, education and social care services.
