In the CYPP we have identified the significant actions that we propose to take as a strategic partnership to deliver on the overarching priorities.Â
Â
Thank you for your feedback. All responses are being considered in the final drafting of the plan.
In developing our new CYPP we have undertaken a comprehensive analysis of need and consulted widely on what matters most to children, young people, parent and carers. We have reviewed outcomes from inspections and other external assessmnets, and listened to prcatitioners' experience of what works. Summaries are included within the CYPP.
A Newcastle Young People Steering Group (YPSG) reviewed the information from a range of participation and engagement work with children and young people, some large scale and some smaller, to identify an initial list of children and young people's priorities for 2011-2014.
These were then subject to consultation during May and June 2010 with a wide cross-section of children and young people and subsequently agreed.
Children and young people say:
Around 800 responses were received to a public consultation asking parents and carers 'What is the one thing you would change for children, young people or families in Newcastle?', as well as feedback from focus groups with diverse groups of parents and carers, including BME communities, foster carers and parents of children with disabilities. These were then analysed and prioritised by a smaller group of parent and carer volunteers into the following.
Parents and carers say:
Thank you to all children and young people, parents and carers, professionals and partner organisations who contributed to the consultations.
On 22 July 2010, key stakeholders including professionals, children and young people, parents and carers came together at Newcastle Civic Centre to jointly generate ideas for action in the next stage of developing OUR Newcastle's Children and Young People Plan.

We have collated all the ideas generated from this event and the lead partnerships will use these to develop action plans.
We will then produce a draft plan for consultation in early 2011 so that we can take into account the government's spending plans.
Sign-off by partners and by the Children's Trust Board will be in Spring 2011

To support the development of the CYPP 2011-14 a comprehensive Newcastle CYPP Needs Assessment has been undertaken.
The needs assessment provides an overview of what we know about different groups of children and young people in Newcastle and their outcomes, and provides an evidence base to support the development of the CYPP for 2010-2014.
The data and information contained within the framework of the needs assessment is collected from a variety of local, regional and national agencies working with children and young people as well as from children and young people through surveys and consultation events. However, it must be recognised that the data and information provides a "snap shot" and may become out of date quiet quickly due to local and national updates. It is envisaged that the data and information within the CYPP Needs Assessment will be updated on a half yearly / annual basis when updates are made available.
Where possible, data has been analysed and presented against national comparators and "similar areas" (statistical neighbours) or core cities. Data has also been analysed spatially to produce ward-based information for a number of the datasets.
