Schools are using allocated support days for literacy and numeracy to ensure there is progression through the 11 - 19 age range. There has been significant improvement in both areas at KS3 and KS4.
9 schools are using Adult Literacy and Numeracy resources to enable their young people to gain a recognised literacy and numeracy qualification.
The Family Learning Service is nationally recognised for its innovation, quality and responsiveness to needs of parents in Newcastle. 41 schools deliver Family Learning programmes, where parents can access workshops and courses. Target groups of learners include Learners with very poor skills; Lone parents; Foster Carers; Teenage Parents; Grandparents and Fathers.
