Triple P

Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme) aims to prevent behavioural, emotional and developmental problems in children by enhancing the knowledge, skills and confidence of parents.  Triple P is a multilevel system of parental support.  It provides five levels of intervention of increasing strength for families with children aged between birth and 16 years.

The course is delivered over the course of ten one hours sessions. Sessions are delivered on a one to one basis by practitioners from Cruddas Park and Walker Social Care Offices, Changing Trax, Family Intervention Project (FiP) and PROPS. Families must be accessing these services in order to receive Triple P as an intervention.

The aim of the programme is:

  • to promote the independence and health of families by enhancing parents' knowledge, skills and confidence
  • promote the development of non-violent, protective and nurturing environments for children and young people
  • promote the development, growth, health and social competence of children
  • reduce the incidence of child abuse, mental health issues, behavioural problems, substance misuse and homelessness
  • enhance the competence, resourcefulness and self-sufficiency of parents in raising their children.

In order to facilitate attendance on the programmes funding is available to provide transport, help with childcare costs, where appropriate as well as interpreters for those with hearing impairments or for families where English is a second language.

We encourage attendance on the programmes to be part of a wider package of support co-ordinated through either Social Care or the CAF process.

Outcomes of attendance at the programmes include;

  • Improved school attendance
