Locality Developments

Newcastle Children's Trust introduced locality working by establishing three locality areas in the City. The aim of this was to improve outcomes for children and young people through greater collaboration between partners to enable earlier intervention and prevention of problems.

A review of locality working in Newcastle was recently carried out by OPM (Office for Public Management). The objectives of the review were:

  • to build on Newcastle's strong commitment to locality working
  • to analyse the successes and challenges of the current approach to locality working, and
  • identify options for improvement
